The "loss" of the ancester oak is only "one of several possible futures", (to quote from Fringe), as you noted.  What I didn't hear you say was that you planted several new trees for our descendants decendants.
Living here in the Siskiyous of southern Oregon, also in a forest, I see where the trees are sprouting many seedlings everywhere possible. I'm certain your forest is equally productive, (simply not noted.)
When I visited Lone Bobcat Road..2005?...I had collected a pocket full of healthy acorns I gathered while waiting for a ride, which i planted here and there near your guest house. (probably never told you, and the deer love 'em)</description>
